Kayak Tour through Mangrove Tunnels

Overview
Just a few minutes away from all the hustle and bustle of Sarasota is our favorite local beach, Turtle Beach. It is only a few short miles from the main Siesta Key beach to Turtle Beach and the Sarasota County trolley will drop you right there. Not only is this area such a beautiful and quiet place, it is also a great place to paddle!

We start on the intercostal and paddle down a short canal to the Bay. We paddle around the mangrove islands through a mangrove tunnel or two and alongside a bird rookery.

We paddle around the mangrove islands of Jim Neville Marine Preserve and then to a "secret" beach. This beach is only accessible by boat so we may have it to ourselves. Such a beautiful place for a quick swim or just stopping for a few moments to relax. You may want to stay here all day.

This location is home to all kinds of wildlife including manatees (when water temps are warm enough), dolphins, beautiful sea and shorebirds and lots of fish.

My husband and I are celebrating our 17th anniversary in Sarasota and are so glad we added this tour to our trip. We both love kayaking but this was truly a unique experience that we will never forget. We didn’t see any manatees, which was a bummer, but we did see some other cool critters (star fish, upside down jelly, sea urchin, sea snail). Sawyer was a fantastic guide and seemed to really enjoy what he does. The only thing we would do differently is bring some cash for a tip. We saw some others on the tour giving a tip but we hadn’t thought or planned ahead to bring cash with us for that purpose. So don’t be like us… We look forward to doing this again someday!

Thanks for the review! With regards to tipping, the guides do take electronic tips (Venmo, Zelle etc). Just ask them. And, they love reading good reviews about their tours-- so thanks for taking the time to write one. Hope to see you again!
