Kayak Tour through Mangrove Tunnels

Overview
Just a few minutes away from all the hustle and bustle of Sarasota is our favorite local beach, Turtle Beach. It is only a few short miles from the main Siesta Key beach to Turtle Beach and the Sarasota County trolley will drop you right there. Not only is this area such a beautiful and quiet place, it is also a great place to paddle!

We start on the intercostal and paddle down a short canal to the Bay. We paddle around the mangrove islands through a mangrove tunnel or two and alongside a bird rookery.

We paddle around the mangrove islands of Jim Neville Marine Preserve and then to a "secret" beach. This beach is only accessible by boat so we may have it to ourselves. Such a beautiful place for a quick swim or just stopping for a few moments to relax. You may want to stay here all day.

This location is home to all kinds of wildlife including manatees (when water temps are warm enough), dolphins, beautiful sea and shorebirds and lots of fish.

Fun activity! Recommend for anyone who can control a canoe or kayak. The group was a little too big with the other vendors who offered the same experience for the area. Spring break, so I get it but it felt like we had to pull off to the side a few more times because of the # of kayaks they scheduled for this session and it’s hard to stay in place with the current to wait for others to pass. That said, Michael was super. 2 hours was just right - there was a nice break in the middle to find shark teeth. We saw Osprey up close, pelicans, and the shark teeth spot was terrific. Would book again.

Great tour and the guides were extremely helpful and awesome. Saw lots of wildlife and the beach was amazing. Found lots of shells and shark teeth. Highly recommend.

Had a great time hanging on the beach looking for shells and shark teeth. Not much paddling time but it was a workout with the tide and water coming in Through midnight pass. Orion was a great guide as he was very knowledgeable about the sea life, ecological system and local history. We (3 sisters) had a nice day.
