Kenai Fjords and Resurrection Bay Half-Day Wildlife Cruise

Overview
Search for whales, sea otters, Steller sea lions, Dall’s porpoises, harbor seals, bald eagles, puffins, and many other types of marine birds as you cruise the the protected waters of Resurrection Bay on this 4 hour cruise. Rather than following a set route, this cruise travels to the best whale and wildlife viewing areas that day based on reports from other vessels. The experienced captains will explore the area’s wildlife hot spots to maximize your chances of viewing whales and other wildlife. You'll experience up-close encounters with wildlife as the ship cruises by massive bird rookeries and sea lion colonies, stopping along the route to view passing whales and otters. Peak season for whale watching is June through mid-August.

The 4-hour cruise is the perfect length, not too long, not too short. It is possible to remain seated in the boat where everything is clearly visible, or to go on the different decks, some of which are covered. It is possible to buy drinks, alcoholic or not, and snacks on the boat. You can also bring your own food. Having taken the cruise at the end of August, we did not have the opportunity to see any large marine mammals which have already started to move to warmer waters. Despite this, I was not disappointed in any way! We saw some animals; sea otters, sea lions, bald eagles, puffins, cormorants, jellyfish. The landscapes were also breathtaking, which is what I especially appreciated. The explanations provided during the cruise were relevant, accessible and filled with humor. English not being my first language, I must note that the presenter had a delivery and a choice of words particularly suited to being understandable for everyone. All the boat employees were also very friendly and professional. The activity is overall expensive, but worth the price in my opinion.
