My sister and I enjoyed all of this excursion. Our guide Mason was very knowledgeable about our stops and the area. He has lived here in Ketchikan for 10 years. We asked about places he would recommend to eat and for information on the ferry for our return to the airport.

The good news is our tour was good. We even got to see a bear catching salmon. The bad news is we're pretty sure we caught Covid from our driver who coughed continually throughout our tour.

After meeting at the rainfall gauge near the cruise dock we lucked out as there was just the two of us on the tour with Mason. He was cool with us modifying the tour and being a local he was so knowledgeable about the sites. We had a lot of laughs following the running salmon from the ladder to Herring Cove way upstream and spotted bald eagles, great blue herons, and a seal along the way. Mason even waded into the river to rescue a young boy's lure that he nearly lost. We were excited to visit the totem pole site and after asking the senior carver's permission he let us in the building where they were carving a new pole (great smell of cedar!).
