A wildlife tour that took us to a muddy construction zone parking lot between houses? What a ripoff. We saw salmon and an eagle in the distance. We had barely ten minutes at this site then back on the bus. Guide was informative about the town, but complained about cruise ship workers buying all the good snacks at their Walmart and about her job. I could have Googled the town info and saved $60. We were suckered. I strategically got one photo that showed some bear tracks and left out the highway, houses, construction, and culverts.

Dear Guest, We offer a $45, 90 minute tour of the city and wildlife, in which you see the historical highlights of town, and then go in a 9 mile drive south of town right along the ocean, making multiple stops. There you might see eagles and eagle nests, we do a quick drive thru Saxman native village and even though we donā€™t stop there, you see all of the totem poles there. Then we continue to Herring Cove where thousands of salmon go upstream to spawn and that becomes a magnet for eagles, seals and bears. We stop there for 20-25 minutes and park at a parking lot, next to the cityā€™s dirt road. The construction you mention is part of the state rebuilding a bridge under the new infrastructure rebuild bill. The tour you took, was a special 1 hour tour priced at $30 and is a drive straight out to herring cove with a 20-25 minute stop, this is the last tour of the day offered for guests who get off the ship late but still want a chance of seeing wildlife, ships leave early this summer and we are committed to getting everyone back safely and on time to the ship so you donā€™t miss your ship, it looks like we delivered on that promise, as far as the wildlife out there that you saw, there are no guarantees, but under your own account you did say you saw the salmon and the eagles. Hopefully next time you visit we will have a brand new bridge and road, specially finished for your convenience. Thank you for your comments, we will share them with our local authorities to highlight the importance of improving the appearance and infrastructure of our town.

All around horrible! The windows of the bus were so steamed up you couldn't see anything if there was anything to see! No place to park at the fish ladder so a drive by, everything else couldn't be seen because of the foggy windows. Driver passed around a dirty wet rag to wipe them off. Waist of time and money! Next time I will just walk in the rain!

Hi Mary, Ketchikan is one the rainiest cities in North America, with 13 feet of rain pero year, 160 inches or 4.10 mts. When it rains it pours, so we just live and survive with the vast amount of HUMITY that is in the environment. So with 30 other human beings on the big trolley we get condensation and the cloth is used to wipe that condensed humor y off of the windows. Sorry you came to visit when it was rainy (90% of the time itā€™s just a fact of life). May is driest month of the year, so next time you visit Alaska, you could try a drier season, but be warned that itā€™s typically colder. If you couldnā€™t stop at the salmon ladder on creek street, it was probably because other tour buses were Parked there, unfortunately we also have to share the public roadways with other vehicles . On the bright side Iā€™m sure you got a chance to stop at other spots along Ketchikan creek and got to see the salmon swimming upstream. Now thatā€™s the part that you see in downtown, at herring cove, located 8 miles south of town we also show our guests the salmon going upstream and that is what attracts wildlife in a huge feeding frenzy. We appreciate your feed back and will do everything we can to enhance guests experience. Weā€™ll keep working on getting less rain, so far we havenā€™t had much luck, even thou we have tried many options
