Four of us went on this shore excursion on a gloomy wet day but ended up being wonderful at Eagle Island. We took a short 30 minute bus ride, driven by friendly drivers, to Southeast Exposure Outdoor Adventure Center while on our cruise ship in Ketchikan. We were met by our guide, "Andi" who is a very personable sweet woman. She loves Alaska so much she takes a break from her nursing schooling and comes back in the summer months as she enjoys working with people and beautiful scenery. "Andi" is a great guide, has patience with less experienced riders, sweet personality. We were all fitted with water jackets, pants, drybags, water skirts for kayaks, life preservers ALL provided by Southeast Exposure. Bring your waterproof cameras and you are set to go. We were in two person kayaks, guide. I believe if there is a group of 7 or more people there are two guides. We rode around and saw lots of wildlife. We did get lucky with calm waters. We were on the water about 1 and 3/4 hours. Be sure to give them a try and tell "Andi" that Bill and Charlene from San Diego say HELLO!!

What a wonderful time. We were picked up at the dock and taken by bus to a zodiac(?), then transported to a remote island in the Tatoosh National Forest. After being given instruction by our knowledgeable guide, we set off for a scenic paddle amongst the islands. There were lots of eagle sightings as well as a curious seal (popped up 5' away from our kayak), and a black tailed deer. I can't remember the vegetation that he pulled out of the waters for us to examine, but it sure was delicious. The home baked cookies were great too. We learned so much and really enjoyed this experience.
