The first part of the trip was devoted to dolphin watching. We found a nice dolphin pod of about 8 dolphins and spent a good amount of time with them. The captain was careful not to disturb the animals but at times the animals came very close to the boat so that one could have a good look.
The snorkeling part was underwhelming. The trip is advertised as a trip to the "backcountry" (mangrove islands) and that one would see juvenile fish and animals unique to this habitat. The boat anchored about 100 yards from a mangrove island and we were told not to swim to close to the island because the boat cannot get there in case of a medical emergency. The site itself had only few fish. The most exciting spot was a turned over metal box where we found a lobster, a crab and three or four tangs. Beyond this, the site had a few schools of fish that came through but they were very bland. We considered this not a good site for snorkeling and even beginners would probably get quickly bored.
The staff was nice and knowledgable. Overall, I would give the dolphin part four stars and the snorkel part one star.
