All Flights Include: Ground safety briefing, pilot personal narration and choreographed music recorded on the live digital video, Stereo aviator headsets with individual volume control, custom built digital recording system, polarized bubble windows, air-conditioned climate control, custom interiors and much more!
Children: A child 23 months or younger may fly at no charge and must sit on adult’s lap. Please provide child’s weight at time of booking. Children 2 yrs. and older must occupy a seat with seat belt on and are charged full fare.
Check-in: Check-in is minimum 45 minutes prior to your tour departure time. For your safety and comfort, hats and over sized bags are not permitted on the flight line or in the helicopter. Please leave these items in your automobile. Bring picture I.D.
Photography: Bring camera and wear a dark colored shirt to reduce glare on the plexiglass windows.
Scuba Diving: No scuba diving 24 hours prior to helicopter tour departure time.
Weight Restriction: Helicopter weight and balance changes with every flight because of passenger weight, pilot weight and length of flight (fuel weight). It is important that we have accurate body weight from every passenger. FAA regulations require all passengers and their carry-on items to be weighed at time of check-in. Any passenger over 290 lbs. will require a comfort seat in our WhisperSTAR aircraft. Call our reservations for more information.
Routes & Flight Time: Sunshine does not fly any specific routes but has many sights within the area of a described tour that we intend to visit during a tour. Sights may vary due to weather. Flight times are estimates and may vary a few minutes.
Actual Flight Video: A high-definition video of your actual flight narrated and orchestrated by your pilot is available on USB for purchase.

We loved our tour with Sunshine Helicopters. We were initially going to do a longer tour with volcanoes and waterfalls but due to weather downgraded to just waterfalls. It ended up being a blessing in disguise because after about 45 minutes we were all a little nauseated and we felt like we got enough of a good experience. Customer service was top notch and we felt very safe!

Had an absolute amazing time doing the Kohala/Hamakua coast helicopter tour with Sunshine Helicopters. We were lucky to book it at all, since they were full during the dates we were free. Luckily they were able to put us on a waitlist and contacted us about an opening. I was so eager that I called in to reserve the spots while my flight to Hawaii was about to take off! A+ for communication. The flight itself was great too. After a brief safety instruction, we were taken to the helicopter, got our photo taken (printed version available for purchase for $15 USD), and were seated based on our weight. Don't fret, because there is no bad seat in the helicopter! I sat in the back middle seat and I was able to see everything the pilot pointed out. Not only that, but he flew in a way so that one side saw the landmarks, and then turned around so that the other side could see it. We were lucky to catch some whales during our flight, and he spent a good 3 minutes circling over them so everyone could get some great views! Plus the flight path itself was great! We flew up the coast and then through a valley to cut across the Big Island itself. Tons of waterfalls that you wouldn't be able to see otherwise. Also gave another perspective on locations that we hiked before, such as Pololu Valley and Waipio Valley. I'd recommend everyone to take this tour! Sunshine is definitely one of the more affordable options, and it was definitely worth the price! Only nitpick is that I wish digital copies of our photo were provided when we purchased them. They said a digital copy would be on the USB drive if we purchased the video recording of our flight, but I personally didn't find that one worth the price.

This is definitely the BEST way to see the beautiful Hamakua Coast on the Big Island of Hawaii! Our pilot flew into each of the valleys, even the narrow ones, and we were able to see all the waterfalls. He even pointed out the valley wall landslides, resulting from earthquakes in the last decade. The views of the eroding coastal cliffs and the narrow black-sand beaches were also spectacular. There is limited access by road to this beautiful part of the island, so helicopter is definitely the way to go. The pilot and staff were very safety-conscious and professional. Our family group of five spent 5 days on the Big Island and 6 days on Oahu, and everyone agreed this helicopter tour was one of the top highlights of the entire trip to Hawaii.
