Overview

Swimming with magical giants as they dance and float right in front of your eyes is a truly magical Kona experience!

Our night manta ray snorkel tours begin departing at 6 p.m. and run until 10 p.m. and last about an hour.

Important note:
-Participants must be experienced swimmers and in good health in order to participate.
-Must have basic snorkeling experience.
-Weight Policy: Anyone 260 and over (not to exceed 320) is required to purchase an additional seat.

All participants must be experienced swimmers and have snorkel experience. Children must be 5 and over to board the boat. Due to the type of boat we operate (RHIB) we are unable to allow service animals on board.
25-30 minutes of water time
50 minutes includes travel by boat time as well

The manta rays were incredible, and the staff was friendly, but there were some concerns we had with the tour that we wanted to share with others. First, they rushed everyone off the boat with no information about what to expect. We didn’t have time to properly adjust our masks, so everyone around us had issues with their masks filling with water. When you’re holding onto a paddle board in the dark with manta rays grazing under you, it’s extremely hard to adjust them. If we were just given a little time to adjust our masks before jumping off the boat, we would’ve been great! We noticed the guides on the tour next to us provided all kinds of interpretive information about the manta rays, while our guides never really said anything to us while we were in the water. We were all trying to listen to the tour next to us and loved hearing the info they shared about these amazing creatures. Also, upon coming back onto the boat it was super slippery, and one person in our party fell, and got a pretty bad cut and had to get a tetanus shot. Just be extra careful coming back on the boat since it’s dark and slippery! The guide asked if they were okay, but never really checked on them once we all sat down. Great manta ray experience, but the tour itself could’ve been better!

Aloha! I am so sorry you felt the need to leave this review after reaching out to us via email first and then never responding once we replied. It is very unfortunate because in that email you advised us that you were avid snorkelers and swimmers but that you all did not know how to use the snorkel masks and also in regard to the cut, you did advise it was a bad cut and in our email response we did ask about that because our crew would have certainly made sure you were okay if there were any signs of injury but there was no blood or any mention of a large cut. Overall, we really are sorry that the tour could have been better for you all but we are so happy that you enjoyed the rays. This was the most incredible experience! I was so nervous because of how big the manta rays are said to be, but the staff reassured me that I was safe and they are harmless. I’m so glad we did this! I’m going to remember this for the rest of my life. If you’re looking for an unforgettable experience, swimming with the manta rays is one you won’t forget! Staff was extremely helpful, thorough, and knew exactly what they were doing. We loved it!
