I’ll review both the shuttle rides and tour. This tour was amazing! No need to be anxious. Our guide was Melia who was so patient and understanding. She stopped every so often to adjust our saddles and stirrups which was a lifesaver for me as my foot was going numb bc the stirrup was too short. She put as at ease from the beginning in saying that there was no shame for not completing the tour if you were too hot or got hurt- someone would come to get you. The horses know the trail well and you don’t have to do too much outside of enjoy the view and follow the directions of the guide. Melia told us a lot of history about the island and showed us some spots where movies were filmed. It is a horse WALKING tour. Don’t expect to zoom through it. But with that said, you will be moving pretty much the whole time. There are a few brief stops. BAGS- I did not know this going in but they provide small saddle bags to hold water and your phone. I had two bottles of water, a small-ish tube of sunscreen, a protein bar, and my phone. I still had some space left over. I was able to put my backpack in a storage locker that was easy to use for $5. The shuttle is worth the pay as it would be extremely expensive to Uber out there and risk not having someone willing to Uber you all the way back. The shuttle from Waikiki was a pretty drive on a tour bus that had great AC and bathrooms! We had to pick up and drop off at one other hotel. Total time riding on bus was about an hour. Our tour was at 9:30 and they picked us up at 7:30. Do not be late. They will not wait. Be prepared to show your ID when you board the bus to go to the ranch and when you leave the ranch they will ask for your name. Our tour ended at 11:30 but the bus didn’t pick us up until 1. It was not a bad wait though. Plenty of seating in the shade and nice view and breeze on their porch. We grabbed lunch at the restaurant while we waited. Would definitely recommend and would do this again in a heartbeat!

We have done many other horseback tours in Mexico, Yosemite, and Costa Rica and I’m going to be honest for what this ranch offers the tour really sucked. It’s basically a tour of the ranch via trail. You see very little of the movie sites and you don’t have any opportunities to get off your horse to take pics. From what I have heard from other guest and reviews, the ATV TOUR IS THE BEST and offers more. Totally disappointing and more so for my kid who loves Jurassic park movies. Other sites advertise it as a ride along Jurassic park sites. Here it’s true to the description but still wasn’t worth the ride.
