We did 2 tours - starting with the Jungle Expedition tour, followed by the Movie Tour - and although both were cool I found the Jungle one better to my liking - it's just much fewer people on it, making the experience much more peaceful and serene, as the Kualoa Ranch is absolutely stunning! We had 2 stops (and the 2nd one you actually have a mini hike up the stairs/hill to get to the "top") to get out of the car for longer, and we stop at different times to take some pictures or check out some other things - I forgot unfortunately the name of the nice lady by now :( but it was an interesting, scenic drive, at times pretty bumpy but it only added to the experience - an absolute must! I am embarrassed that it took us 2nd trip to Oahu to visit the Ranch and that I almost did not want to do it, thinking it's just for the movie fans... trust me IT IS NOT, it's a stunning wild nature, probably the prettiest side of Oahu The tour focuses on the nature, island, history, and the only portion of movies in this one is that you end up passing by one of the Jurassic World movie sets, en route :) Highly highly, highly recommend!

The Jungle Expedition tour we took was really quite stellar. Our guide Wonka did an excellent job providing a mix of information about Hawaiian culture, ranch history, and movie filming fun facts. We navigated some incredibly bumpy terrain which elevated the fun, and the rain that started partway through our tour only added to the experience. Wonka would stop & get out of the cab of the truck to make sure we could hear the narration which we appreciated! The small hike at the top to the lookout point of the Jurassic Valley made me cry it was so beautiful - a JP lovers dream come true.

Insist on having Laka as your guide for any tour, and if he’s not available then change your plans for when he is available. Of course the views are going to be amazing regardless of who your guide is, but Laka brought a knowledge and love for the land and its history that you can only experience from someone who’s ancestors have grown there and passed the knowledge and respect along. The passion he has for Hawaii, both in its people and its land, is what makes the islands so special. If you don’t have a sense of humor and aren’t looking to learn about cultures then he’s not for you, but if you want to know what Hawaii really is, from its history to its people, land, traditions, and all else, then Laka is your man. BTW, don’t forget to bring cash and tip the man! He’s worth way more than any crappy tour book you picked up on Amazon or the airport bookstore.
