I'm so glad we chose to go to this island. There are so many things to choose to do. Our 13 & 16yr old loved it and so did we. Kayaking, paddle boarding, life jackets, ping pong, corn holes, walking trails, Connect 4.........I could go on and on. I think we got lucky that there wasn't a big crowd when we went. There are tons of lounge chairs, hammocks, horse shoes. Make sure you bring your towels. The showers are cold and not private. There are dressing rooms for you to change. It was a beautiful piece of Oahu. If we come again we will make a full day of this island. It's the kind of fun for our family. Bring your own food and water

To be honest, I thought this would have been a better experience. We did have fun and we enjoyed the unlimited use of kayaks and paddle boards, but the experience was a bit underwhelming. It’s hard to explain. You’re surrounded by the sheer beauty of the landscape, but you’re left wanting something more from this “Secret Island,” so to speak. Notes About Staff: Most of the staff members were lovely, funny people. There were some staff members, however, that clearly were unhappy in their jobs. One of the ticket booth workers was very gruff and robot-like in her directions (there’s got to be a better way than saying the same script to over 100 individual people....perhaps a group announcement or an informational card). Also, one of the cashiers at the cafe was rude and not very nice. Finally, the lifeguards were very helpful and extremely vigilant, but they were clearly getting annoyed when people were going outside of the buoys while kayaking and paddle boarding. There was a strong wind pushing everyone outside the lines. No one was intentionally doing this and it was difficult to turn back against the wind. It was annoying to hear people being barked at by the lifeguards over the loudspeaker. Everyone was just doing their best to have fun and navigate the waters. Maybe show more kindness to the tourists who are spending A LOT of money here. C’mon, people. It’s a tourist attraction. This is the job.

I decided to review a specific part of Kualoa Ranch. I am sure that the other excursions are great. The secret beach was not what we expected. After a serene trip across a lake surrounded by beautiful cliffs, we disembarked for the beach. It was cloudy and the water was just very murky. There were a limited number of canoes and kayaks for the group we were in. Once the guy said to line up for the canoes and kayaks, a whole bunch of people immediately jumped to the line like guppies in search of Tetramin. Not much to do at that point. The idea was just silly and so we left. I think this beach has potential but at the moment its a skippable activity plus we traveled 2 hours plus to get there. I wish we can have this day back as my review echoes a number of other dissatisfied patrons. You will need to book super early in advance for the other activities.
