What a way to experience Lake Yellowstone! We had four of us, three were inexperienced kayakers, on this trip. We did the morning half day adventure. It starts at Grant Marina at 830 AM, so make sure you plan accordingly. Grand Marina at that time of day is a long ways from Gardiner due to wildlife. We left Gardiner before 6 AM and arrived at the Marina at 815 AM. Our guide, Joe, was awesome. The team prepped us on kayak use and safety, made sure we all had our life jackets and rain gear, adjusted the rudder peddals, and got us organized before we set off. West Thumb is full of sights in the early morning. We were fortunate enough to see the, what we called, owl geyser erupt. It is an inconsistent erupter so there are no guarantees. Working with this company was super easy. Once I established cintac t with them, they communicated as often as necessary through email or text. All necessary forms are completed online to make things easy. If I ever need a kayak experience and they are in the area, this is the company I would use.
