Overview
Our meeting time of 8:30 is the optimal time as we are one of the first to get on and usually get back before the strong afternoon winds pick up. Kayaking on lake Yellowstone on a old volcano is truly one of the top five things to do while in the park. With our small group tours we are able to personalize the tour and really show our guests this place in a unique way. All of our kayaks have a rudders which is very important on windy days and is a great way to steer with ease. Our naturalist guides/level 3 ACA certified trip leaders are in the top of their field and have years of experience, this helps when talking about Yellowstone as a naturalist and safety as a seasoned guide. Kayaking past the west thumb geyser and Potts geyser basin is a truly special way see this area of Yellowstone lakes thermal features, With our fast and stable kayaks we are able to cover more ground safety to optimize guests overall experience

We did the 5:30 kayak. The weather was great and we finished at sunset. The lake was calm which made the paddling easy. Our guide, Joe, was very knowledgeable about the area and entertained us with great stories about Yellowstone. Great way to end a day in the park!

I loved being able to kayak over thermal features and actually seeing a glacier erupt while on the trip. Our tour guide was very informative and helped us to plan other activities during our trip.

Trip was run by Shurr Adventures led by Aidan on a perfect water weather morning. Shurr was easy to contact, as location is a bit funky to find initially but they returned questions very promptly. Guide Aidan was amazing; smart, great story teller, very conscientious about kayak safety and was prompt and accommodating to entire group. We left a 8:30 with kayaks being fit to appropriate size for each kayaker. Might suggest either a bigger kayak or disclaimers for larger people as kayak is tight for large thighs men. No issue in end as we switched to tandem that worked much better! Views on water were terrific with pacing of group set very appropriate for our group of 6 including guide. Kayaked roughly 3 hours with a snack/bathroom break in middle. Learned a lot about Yellowstone, Yellowstone lake and the many geological findings on excursion. Saw some animals but mostly a great day on water! Aidan provided education, water, snacks, dry bags, kayaks, and kayak vests to make day for us all about fun. He made entire group feel safe and allowed for a terrific morning. Highly recommend!!
