We went sailing and had a peaceful time on the water, but it was not what we expected. Capt Bill was friendly and met us on the dock and we loaded the boat. He was informative and explained the mechanics of the boat and sailing methods. We lulled for a while, but Capt said we were just waiting for the wind. Once we did start moving, we went slowly (reasonable due to lack of wind) but did not travel far at all for the duration of the trip. Capt had one of us steer (which at first was nice, but became burdensome when he would go below deck to clean the boat and he would have us zigzag in small, slow patterns). While being on the water was nice, we felt awkward at times and like we were sitting ducks vs moving on river. We also appreciate the cleanliness of the boat, but felt like having us steer while he cleaned was perhaps not the best approach as we felt we couldn't just sit back with each other. We ended the tour 20 minutes early. The following day, he sent us quality pictures of the trip. Overall, being on the water is always nice on a 90 degree day, but our expectations differed from the experience we had.

Just found this, sorry. Thanks for such an extensive review. We moved from the James River to the York River because there's more wind, and 99 days out of 100 the wind picks up nicely.
