Local Sustainable Food Tour in Lake Tahoe

Overview
We are the only food hub in the region. We are addressing food access challenges at the local level to connect people to where their food comes from. Schedule a tour of our facility or just stop in and shop from our wide variety of local food in our retail store, The Farmacy. If you sign-up for a tour, you will walk away with a better understanding as to why it is important to support local farms and build a local food system. You will learn how regenerative, sustainable farming practices can help mitigate climate change by sequestering carbon in their soil. This is an opportunity not to be missed!

Lake Tahoe
A tour is not required to visit our retail store, The Farmacy. Visitors are welcome stop in and shop for local food without a tour. See our website for shop hours, www.tahoefoodhub.org. If visitors sign-up for a tour, guests will learn about the abundance of locally-grown food grown produced within 100 miles of Truckee, CA and surrounding regions of Northern California. They can learn about our farmers and how our organization creates a food system to connect them to our mountain community. On average a tour can take 20-minutes. Your tour guide will meet you at the designated time and place. the tour will start at the front of the warehouse and the walking tour will take the visitor through the process of how local food is sourced, received, aggregated and distributed. Visitors will see how we prepare and store the local food in coolers and dry storage. The tour will finish in our retail store, The Farmacy, where visitors can purchase the local food they were just learning about.
