Lovers Key Guided Eco Tour-Mangrove Estuary

Overview

This is a 2 hour and 15 minute tour with Lovers Key Adventures master naturalist guide, Stephen, who expertly guides our guests through the mangrove canopied estuary explaining the importance of the southwest Florida eco-system -the history of the area- from the Calusa Indians, Conquistadors, and Ponce De Leon..on. He finds wildlife and introduces our guests to the various birds, vegetation, dolphins, and manatee (if they’re around that day;) This is one of the unique experiences available in southwest Florida. No tour is ever the same there is no script and many guests return year after year to enjoy Stephen's expertise and the beauty of Lovers Key
Our guests also often take advantage of the beaches and hiking trails offered inside the state park. There are many photo opportunities available to capture the memories of this incredible experience within the natural surroundings of the untouched Florida landscape.

What To Expect

Lovers Key State Park

Lovers Key State Park offers 2 1/2 miles of beach coastline with incredible shelling. There are 5 miles of hiking and biking trails with wildlife sightings daily. The tours take place in the estuary with manatee and dolphin sightings (if they choose to show up) many or most days. 4 hour Kayak rentals are also available at your leisure-unguided with single and tandem kayaks and canoes as well as stand up paddle boards rented by the hour.

This tour was incredible! Stephen is incredibly knowledgeable and he is eager to share what he knows in a way that makes you appreciate the area and the animals you encounter on this tour. This relaxed tour is a great way to experience the manatees. Stephen adapted the tour to allow us plenty of time to kayak right alongside the manatees. He was eager to provide a tour that met everyone's expectations. This tour was the highlight of our 5-day vacation.

My husband and I escaped MN to fulfill his dream of seeing a Manatee. We love state parks so explored a guided tour. It was amazing, fabulous and yes we saw many manatees, dolphins, a tarpon, several unusual bird, a star fish and something that resembled a huge ocean slug that squirted purple. Steve was so knowledgeable and let's not forget his dog Bowser accompanied Steve on his paddle board. Steve answered all questions and had a wealth of knowledge about all aspects of water and land. Highly recommend and would do again. Yes you can rent a kayak and do the estuary loop on your own but you would miss so much without Steve telling you what to watch for and info about everything. If we are lucky enough to come back I will for sure track Steve down!! Lauren and Peter

We loved our kayaking tour! We saw manatees, dolphins, tons of birds and learned so much. Our tour guide, Stephan Denmark, was amazing. He was so knowledgeable and approachable. He really is an expert in all things in and around this gorgeous spot. We highly recommend taking the tour with him as your guide. You won't be disappointed! Peter and Laney
