Lovers Key Guided Eco Tour-Mangrove Estuary

Overview

This is a 2 hour and 15 minute tour with Lovers Key Adventures master naturalist guide, Stephen, who expertly guides our guests through the mangrove canopied estuary explaining the importance of the southwest Florida eco-system -the history of the area- from the Calusa Indians, Conquistadors, and Ponce De Leon..on. He finds wildlife and introduces our guests to the various birds, vegetation, dolphins, and manatee (if they’re around that day;) This is one of the unique experiences available in southwest Florida. No tour is ever the same there is no script and many guests return year after year to enjoy Stephen's expertise and the beauty of Lovers Key
Our guests also often take advantage of the beaches and hiking trails offered inside the state park. There are many photo opportunities available to capture the memories of this incredible experience within the natural surroundings of the untouched Florida landscape.

What To Expect

Lovers Key State Park

Lovers Key State Park offers 2 1/2 miles of beach coastline with incredible shelling. There are 5 miles of hiking and biking trails with wildlife sightings daily. The tours take place in the estuary with manatee and dolphin sightings (if they choose to show up) many or most days. 4 hour Kayak rentals are also available at your leisure-unguided with single and tandem kayaks and canoes as well as stand up paddle boards rented by the hour.

Stephen Denmark was our guide on a morning kayaking trip. We are all new to kayaking and he was an awesome teacher and guide. We were up close with the Manatee, it was an experience of a life time.

Stephen the guide was absolutely the best ! He’s not only knowledgeable but very friendly and open to all questions. He knows the area and obviously loves it and is happy to share it with others. The area is gorgeous we saw manatee and they even interacted with our group. Highly recommend

We had an absolutely lovely time with our guide Stephen, and ended up bobbing around with what felt like about ten manatees underneath us. We also saw dolphins but what was best about his guiding was how Stephen completely adjusts it to what you want to do - if you want to just bob around and watch manatees (assuming there are any) for two hours he’s fine with that, and if you want to go further afield and look for anything else or learn about mangroves and whatever it is he finds on one of those buoys he’s just as accommodating. He has an amazing passion and depth of knowledge about everything that swims in and grows in the area and can explain it to all age groups. He seems so relaxed and at home there that he’s practically Floridian flora and fauna himself. His dog Bowser (in the picture, with a manatee) is lovely, too. We didn’t have any water nervous people with us but I can imagine him being really good with that, too, if it came up.
