Lovers Key Guided Eco Tour-Mangrove Estuary

Overview

This is a 2 hour and 15 minute tour with Lovers Key Adventures master naturalist guide, Stephen, who expertly guides our guests through the mangrove canopied estuary explaining the importance of the southwest Florida eco-system -the history of the area- from the Calusa Indians, Conquistadors, and Ponce De Leon..on. He finds wildlife and introduces our guests to the various birds, vegetation, dolphins, and manatee (if they’re around that day;) This is one of the unique experiences available in southwest Florida. No tour is ever the same there is no script and many guests return year after year to enjoy Stephen's expertise and the beauty of Lovers Key
Our guests also often take advantage of the beaches and hiking trails offered inside the state park. There are many photo opportunities available to capture the memories of this incredible experience within the natural surroundings of the untouched Florida landscape.

What To Expect

Lovers Key State Park

Lovers Key State Park offers 2 1/2 miles of beach coastline with incredible shelling. There are 5 miles of hiking and biking trails with wildlife sightings daily. The tours take place in the estuary with manatee and dolphin sightings (if they choose to show up) many or most days. 4 hour Kayak rentals are also available at your leisure-unguided with single and tandem kayaks and canoes as well as stand up paddle boards rented by the hour.

Wanted to learn about FL ecosystem so we booked a tour with Stephen & his dog, Bowser, per his great reviews. Not only was he extremely knowledgable but his enthusiam as a native Floridian was great! We learned that the mangroves are the ocean’s nursery! All kinds of marine life breed in these sheltered areas & young grow up protected! We were thrilled to see lots of Manatees, breeching fish, birds & even an Anhinga drying his feathers on a low branch over the water! Very relaxing, easy paddle for everyone! Can’t wait to do this again next year!

Stephen took us on a morning kayak tour in Lover’s Key. It was a very relaxing morning watching the manatees and their calves. Stephen provided in-depth knowledge of the wildlife and ecosystem-pointed out many fish and bird species. His dog, Bowser, came along for the ride and was the perfect edition. Stephen took pictures of my mom and I and was very personable. We appreciated the time he took with us. Also he gave my mom a snickers bar so he came prepared on a variety of levels. Highly recommend!

This was my first time kayaking and we picked Eco Tour - Lovers Key Adventures. We were so lucky to have Stephen Denmark as our guide. He was fun, knowledgeable and patient with all of us. He even very kindly helped some kayakers that were not on our tour. We learned so much about the eco system, wildlife and of course the manatees were right next to our kayaks for about 10 minutes. It was a very pleasant and fun day. We were kayaking over 3 hours and I would highly recommend this tour.
