Lovers Key Guided Eco Tour-Mangrove Estuary

Overview
This is a 2 hour and 15 minute tour with Lovers Key Adventures master naturalist guide, Stephen, who expertly guides our guests through the mangrove canopied estuary explaining the importance of the southwest Florida eco-system -the history of the area- from the Calusa Indians, Conquistadors, and Ponce De Leon..on. He finds wildlife and introduces our guests to the various birds, vegetation, dolphins, and manatee (if they’re around that day;) This is one of the unique experiences available in southwest Florida. No tour is ever the same there is no script and many guests return year after year to enjoy Stephen's expertise and the beauty of Lovers Key
Our guests also often take advantage of the beaches and hiking trails offered inside the state park. There are many photo opportunities available to capture the memories of this incredible experience within the natural surroundings of the untouched Florida landscape.

The kayak tour of the Lovers Key area was amazing. Our group saw manatees, sea creatures, osprey, egrets, herons, and even a baby alligator. Stephen Denmark was very informative about the wildlife and plant life around Lovers Key. Stephen even sent our group tour photos that he took with his camera. This tour is a personal tour with lots of time for questions about the park area. I highly recommend this tour for anyone visiting the Fort Myers Beach/Bonita area.

I was in a group of three for the guided kayak tour. Our tour guide was a naturalist who taught me many things about the plants, animals and area around Lovers Key State Park. We saw manatees, ocean creatures, and a baby alligator. I highly recommend this tour. Wear sunscreen as it is a three hour tour.

My family and I thoroughly enjoyed the guided kayak tour of the Lover's Key estuaries near Fort Myers Beach, FL. Stephen Denmark (our tour guide) is outstanding, and a wealth of knowledge. He made the information easy to understand, interesting, and best of all, fun. You can tell he cares and is passionate about the surroundings he's sharing with you. The best review possible of this attraction? My teenage daughter (age: 15) thought this was the best part of the vacation. I didn't think was possible, since my wife and I also participated. ;) She ignored her phone for an entire 2 hours, and would have been happy to go longer!! We saw manatees, dolphins, tarpon, mullett (fish, not hair), nine-legged star fish (who knew?!?), fighting conch, and birds to numerous to count. Stephen also found a fish that he'd never seen before, and we're waiting to see if it's a new/unidentified species. The kayaks provided (both tandem and solo) are stable, easy to paddle, and allow you to fully enjoy the tour without needing to be an experienced kayaker. THINGS TO TAKE WITH YOU: sun screen, water/water bottle, ziplock bag or a small clear dry bag (for camera/phone, etc), a hat, and sunglasses. I recommend polarized sunglasses if possible. They greatly reduce the glare on the water and allow you to spot fish, manatees, etc below the surface of the water. You can also make a full-day of going to Lover's Key, because the tour is just a part. Enjoy the beach, which tends to be less crowded, and the water of the Gulf is amazing!
