Lovers Key Guided Eco Tour-Mangrove Estuary

Overview

This is a 2 hour and 15 minute tour with Lovers Key Adventures master naturalist guide, Stephen, who expertly guides our guests through the mangrove canopied estuary explaining the importance of the southwest Florida eco-system -the history of the area- from the Calusa Indians, Conquistadors, and Ponce De Leon..on. He finds wildlife and introduces our guests to the various birds, vegetation, dolphins, and manatee (if they’re around that day;) This is one of the unique experiences available in southwest Florida. No tour is ever the same there is no script and many guests return year after year to enjoy Stephen's expertise and the beauty of Lovers Key
Our guests also often take advantage of the beaches and hiking trails offered inside the state park. There are many photo opportunities available to capture the memories of this incredible experience within the natural surroundings of the untouched Florida landscape.

What To Expect

Lovers Key State Park

Lovers Key State Park offers 2 1/2 miles of beach coastline with incredible shelling. There are 5 miles of hiking and biking trails with wildlife sightings daily. The tours take place in the estuary with manatee and dolphin sightings (if they choose to show up) many or most days. 4 hour Kayak rentals are also available at your leisure-unguided with single and tandem kayaks and canoes as well as stand up paddle boards rented by the hour.

My husband and I took our 2 daughters in a dbl kayak guided tour with Steve. It was by far the most amazing experience we have ver done! Not only was it super educational but we were greeted by 4 manatees upon the launch! I made eye contact with one of them and we also received a “love nudge” from one also. They so so gentle and magnificent. I highly recommend this tour for anyone! We will definitely be back next we visit!

The kayak tour with Karen was the best that we had ever attended. Karen was such a helpful and informative guide. We saw manatees, herons nesting, an osprey with its prey and more. The estuary is beautiful and Lovers Key is easy to get to and well organized.

Our guide Karen was wonderful and brought us to all the spots where we would be most likely to see some animals — lots of local birds, and even a manatee! We rented a double kayak and she gave a quick lesson on how to get into the kayak, paddle, and what to if we get caught up in the mangroves. Karen told some interesting stories and fun facts, and even took great photos of us (posed and candid) to remember the trip. All in all one of the top experiences in the area. Lovers Key State Park is beautiful and a great place to spend the day. Thanks again Karen!
