What To Expect

Lower Antelope Canyon

Tour Departure Point: Lower Antelope Canyon Indn Route 222 Page, AZ, 86040 Antelope Canyon Tours departs every 1/2 hour a quarter after and a quarter till the hour, the tour is a 1.5 hours waling tour and climbing down some ladders is involved. Please wear comfortable shoes for this 600 meter trip. Lower Antelope Canyon Tours has smaller group sizes and the guide stays with you during the entire tour, sharing information about the geology, history, and Navajo Traditional ways. The Lower Antelope Canyon tends to be less crowded than the Upper Antelope Canyon and is preferred by many because of its narrow canyon walls and ladders that take you to the levels that have been carved by flash floods from the upper mesas. The sandstone walls are exquisitely formed, and the Lower Antelope Canyon offers a longer canyon exploration.

We had a great time. Our tour guy, Matthew, was super nice and knowledgeable. He helped show where the best pictures could be taken and helped to take those pictures of our family in the canyon.

After enduring the crowds at the Grand Canyon, we were disappointed to find so many people ready to tour Lower Antelope. But the canyon itself is big enough that we eventually lost sight of how many were sharing the experience. And what an experience it was. Each time we stopped to look we were blown away by the majesty. Our guide was fantastic, both because of his narrative and because of his photo expertise. He reminded us in the beginning that it was not a photo tour, but then he helped us find the right place and apply the right filter to catch some wonderful iPhone shots. Best of all, he took amazing panoramic photos of the group that will always remind us of the canyon's beauty and his skill.
