We were looking for an excursion that would allow us to do some kayaking and snorkeling. We booked with Maui Kayaking based on the pictures on the website and the reasonable pricing for the trip. We met our guide John Shappell at Makena Park. At first, we were a little skeptical as to what the experience would bring. We had snorkeled in that area before and not seen much. Once we started paddling, we were happy to be on the water. We were very impressed at John's ability to ensure the more experienced kayakers enjoyed the paddle while ensuring those newer to the experience were comfortable. We paddled for a bit before heading to the snorkeling site. We had no idea there were so many turtles. We were so close to them! It was pretty incredible. I highly recommend this excursion with Maui Kayaks, and especially our guide, John Shappell. We will book with him again next time we are in Maui.

We ended up having to change our kayak and snorkeling area from Makena to Lahaina due to ocean conditions. We had a Great time with our guide Ryan, he was very friendly and welcoming. Our family of 4 had never been kayaking or snorkeling before and he made us feel very safe and secure with his skills and knowledge. He took our total group of 8 out to the middle of the ocean to see some whales!! We were close enough to hear them breath when they came up for air! It was Awesome!!! Then we paddled back inland and snorkeled on the reef near by. The snorkeling was a little disappointing (not much fish) but we did see sea turtles and the whole experience made up for it. I would highly recommend this trip to anyone visiting Maui!
