The tour went pretty much as described and expected. We met at Makena Landing at 7:00 and met up with our guide John (on the road just a little past the actual parking lot). John was helpful explaining how the day would go and was great about getting people in and out of the water. Be aware that the wind, weather and whale conditions will strongly govern how your morning goes, as will the weakest links in your group :). There is only so much that the guide can do! That being said, the gear is fine, the guide tries hard, and the surroundings are awesome. If you have ever paddled a kayak, you should be fine unless the weather gets weird. Have fun.

The guide we had take us out today was Garrett and he did a great job with teaching us so many things about the islands, Maui itself, and about the whales and wildlife. We really enjoyed the pace of the kayaking and although we didn't see any whales, we saw a monk seal which we were told was a very rare sighting. Loved the trip and would definitely recommend to others.
