TIP: Bring hand warmers for when you get out of the warm water! When we headed out to swim it was 38 degrees. The wetsuit, coupled with the warm 72 degree water, made for a perfect swim. Just wished I had hand warmers when we got back into the boat and headed back to the shop-my feet and hands were cold-LOL. Nevertheless, Iād do this again and again. We had the best time!!
Our boat captain Mike and guide Courtney were kind and informative- they treated us like our trip was their trip. It wasnāt some boring scripted speech. Courtney did a fantastic job capturing nice photos and video of our swim!! She even let me use her gloves to keep warm once back on the boat, sheās a doll! Courtney was intentional in ensuring each of us were enjoying ourselves. She encouraged and interacted with us in the water. Clearly it made her happy to see us enjoying ourselves. Please please TIP the guides & captain just as you do when you receive service from wait staff, massage therapists, etc.
Swimming with manatee has been on my bucket list for about 5 years - this trip did not disappoint. We took the 7 am trip and although some manatee were sleeping/resting there were plenty others active. I especially enjoyed two small ones who wanted to play a lot. Oh, it was so beautiful and calm.
Finally, the shop staff were accommodating, patient, and kind. They too contributed to an overall wonderful experience.
P.S. We went to The Crab Plant Seafood Restaurant. Definitely worth a return visit - I had lightly blackened red snapper and it too did not disappoint.
