Mangroves and Manatees - Guided Kayak Eco Tour

Overview
Our tours are geared towards first time and new paddlers.  We go at your speed so you don't have to worry about going out and getting exhausted.  Grab a friend and come along for a unique adventure on the #1-rated Eco-Tour through the mangrove ecosystem. Choose your kayak - single or double - and glide in our shallow clear water over sponges, grass beds, and sandy patches. Looking down, you might see a small nurse shark, turtle, or stingray, or can observe dolphins and manatees. Above water, herons, pelicans, and ospreys settle on the mangroves and hunt for fish. While there are no guaranteed wildlife sightings, we always see something cool in this one-of-a-kind estuary ecosystem that starts right outside the back door of our shop.

This place is great! The guides were fun and talkative, and the tour is great. We even saw a manatee! Definitely would recommend this for anyone who wants to paddleboard!

Our guide (Kelly) was friendly and informative; the mangrove trails she took us down were beautiful and serene. The wild lives we saw include stingrays, tarpon fish, and a variety of birds and crabs.

Thanks for joining us. We really love having Kelly around. Unfortunately, she does go away every summer to work in Alaska so we have to wait until fall for her return.

My wife book this 2 hour tour for us because my 2 daughters (13 and 14) want to try paddle boarding. Sarah was our instructor / guide and she was fantastic and very good at her job. I have a bad knee and we needed to start out on our knees, it was also a very windy day so Sarah said we would get a work out but if it got too tough to drop to our knees. It didn't take long to figure out this was going to be a problem for me, and I feel off the first time I tried to stand. Sarah asked if I wanted to switch to a kayak so I wasn't in pain the whole day and I said yes. I've kayaked before so this was a simple 2 minute switch and I was off and buzzing around. The tour took us down the channel and then into so of the back country, I don't think my girls were expecting that. It was still fascinating and my kids and wife were right at home on their boards. Coming back was dead into the wind so a little challenging but my daughters led the pack, the three of us actually had to wait for everyone to catch up. We were indeed sore the next day and both of my kids are athletes but none of us every felt like we couldn't do what we needed to on the water. Just using some muscles you don't use that much every day. I highly recommend this tour, my kids want their own board now. Of course we live in Illinois so no where to use them.
