Mangroves and Manatees - Guided Kayak Eco Tour

Overview
Our tours are geared towards first time and new paddlers.  We go at your speed so you don't have to worry about going out and getting exhausted.  Grab a friend and come along for a unique adventure on the #1-rated Eco-Tour through the mangrove ecosystem. Choose your kayak - single or double - and glide in our shallow clear water over sponges, grass beds, and sandy patches. Looking down, you might see a small nurse shark, turtle, or stingray, or can observe dolphins and manatees. Above water, herons, pelicans, and ospreys settle on the mangroves and hunt for fish. While there are no guaranteed wildlife sightings, we always see something cool in this one-of-a-kind estuary ecosystem that starts right outside the back door of our shop.

Suzanne was our guide. She was very informative and insightful as to the mangroves and surrounds. Tracked down a manatee so our group could see one swimming up close. Only down side was when we were going through the mangroves people didn’t space out enough and created a log jam.

What an amazing experience! We had never seen manatees before, and this tour did not disappoint. Right away we saw a large adult in the canals near the paddle shop. Then we paddled across & the guide, Britney, knew a spot where two nurse sharks like to hang out. Next we saw a baby manatee with an adult, then paddled through the mangroves up a narrow channel. It was a really cool spot with low hanging branches & total shade. We stopped for a quick swim before heading back to the shop. Britney was an awesome guide. She made sure all the kids (ours are 7-17 & another family on our tour had four young boys under 8) could see the animals. She was patient & knew a lot about the area as well as environmental issues in the Keys. She took over a hundred pics which she airdropped you us later. This is a wonderful experience for active families.

The experience of paddling among such beautiful and majestic wildlife is one I will remember for a long time to come. We had a perfect day of weather, which made the experience that much more wonderful. Betsy, our guide, has a wealth of knowledge and passion for teaching her guests about the ecosystem around us. The entire adventure far exceeded our expectations in every way.
