Mangroves and Manatees - Guided Kayak Eco Tour

Overview
Our tours are geared towards first time and new paddlers.  We go at your speed so you don't have to worry about going out and getting exhausted.  Grab a friend and come along for a unique adventure on the #1-rated Eco-Tour through the mangrove ecosystem. Choose your kayak - single or double - and glide in our shallow clear water over sponges, grass beds, and sandy patches. Looking down, you might see a small nurse shark, turtle, or stingray, or can observe dolphins and manatees. Above water, herons, pelicans, and ospreys settle on the mangroves and hunt for fish. While there are no guaranteed wildlife sightings, we always see something cool in this one-of-a-kind estuary ecosystem that starts right outside the back door of our shop.

The wind was INTENSE and we had to work HARD to get back against the wind under the bridge... but WE DID IT! According to my Apple Watch I burned something like 1,100 calories during the 2.5 hour tour. Most of it was incredibly relaxing and informative, going through the mangroves leisurely and spotting tons of wildlife. Even during the intense sections, Betsy was full of humor and totally calm, and that reassured me that — even if I didn’t seem to be making much headway against the wind and waves — I was going to make it if I just kept paddling. I fell in like 3 times, but my wife managed to stay dry. 10/10 would do again! Just make sure you are in good shape / don’t have a heart condition if the wind is more than 15-20mph.

We saw manatees and a nurse shark before getting to the mangroves, which were themselves stunningly beautiful. Our guide Becca had a great attitude and a lot of knowledge. She was happy to answer my questions & helped a newer kayaker learn to paddle. I had so much fun I could have kept going for another hour, but I enjoyed the time we had :)

My husband and I had a great time on the Mangrove tour. We did the kayaks but there were some first time paddleboarders on our trip too. Our guide Suzanne and her dog Slinky did a great job making sure everyone knew how to operate their equipment correctly. The Mangroves were amazing to see, a definite must! Suzanne was really knowledgeable about everything we were seeing and was so helpful to those of us who needed a little extra guidance with our steering. I definitely recommend.
