Manhattan Architecture Yacht Cruise

Overview
Step aboard the teak decks of elegant 1920s style yachts, Manhattan or Manhattan II, and enjoy a 2.75 hour cruise while learning about NYC's architectural landmarks from the water. The "Around Manhattan" tour narration, provided by members of the American Institute of Architects’ (AIA) NYC chapter, is general enough for visitors yet detailed enough for the locals.
Experience a comfortable and unique tour through the Hudson, East, and Harlem Rivers from a glassed-in observatory cabin, which has sliding windows for a fresh breeze, or wander to an open bow for more unobstructed views of the surrounding sites. On this cruise, guests will circumnavigate the island of Manhattan, passing under all 18 bridges, while taking in monuments, architecture, parks and infrastructure with narration throughout the cruise.

Important note: select departures on Friday afternoons will focus on Climate Change in and around New York City. Please call the operator directly for questions on the tour theme.

John, our architect guide, was interesting and knowledgeable, the boat (really more like a private yacht) was perfect for viewing everything, and very comfortable. There were only about 30 people on our trip and the entire staff was friendly and accomodating. We loved hearing about the history of NYC and about the architectural history as well as the new plans for the city. We highly recommend this tour!

Super highly recommended! The boats are beautiful and super comfortable we went on Manhattan II, but we also saw Manhattan I at the pier and the best part, it was NOT crowded. There's a full bar and light snacks, the crew was great, even bringing drinks while we were outside. The architect who was narrating was very good and you can also hear him while being outside!

This is a truly special tour around Manhattan. I took it twice - once with the family, and a second time as an office outing. The boat is a classical beauty, lots of light and one can see everything even when sitting inside. The outdoor space is the best part though, from there one not only gets the best view, but also feels the wind and the sun. The crew is professional and does everything they can to accomodate you. Kendra was of tremendous help when organizing our staff outing and flexible even with last minute changes. Skipper Martin steered us safely around Manhattan. AIA's commentary is truly professional. My first tour was guided by John Shreve Arbuckle, who is very knowledgeable, witty and charismatic. He incorporates a historic narrative and explains the development from industrial to residential. The second tour was narrated by John Kriskiewicz and not as engaging as the first one. This is a great idea for staff outings. You get a chance to chat, can drift off while looking at the skyline and get some drinks together. Overall, I very much recommend this tour!
