After boating to the location we found that all the mooring points for a dove boat to set up were being used by other operators. Going with someone else would get you there early enough to get a good spot. This is important because you hang into light boards which are tied to the anchored boat. This keeps you stationary so plankton will gather to the light and the manta rays will come to you. Since we didn’t have this we had to be dropped off out far and swim, which wasted what would be valuable viewing time. Then the constant motion from moving around means we didn’t gather enough plankton for the mantas to come to our group (all the other boats, ~7, had them almost the entire time). To top it off, one of the boats two light boards did not work. This meant even more light, more crowded people yo the one light, and even less chance to see a manta. Why would they not have a back up? It also was very clearly been damaged and they just didn’t care. This boat is charging passengers $5000+ per day and can’t have an extra $200 light board? Or at least offer a refund since we had to rebook to go back with another operator that was better prepared. We had 29 people to one light board… many other boats had around 8-13 people. Do NOT use this operator. You’ll end up paying more when you decide to do it again to go with a legitimate operator so you can actually get the experience you’re supposedly paying for. The captain was also very sour and pressured you to pay large tips to his boat hands because he doesn’t pay them well. I talked to other crew and this boat is notorious for this. Avoid them, there are other way better options
