Loved the visit, even on a chilly, windy day. We toured the vessels with the circuit recommended by staff- was a few ships. Some areas of the vessels, especially older ones were closed off due to repairs or sailing club volunteers in training. Signage and photographs were present. We met an older gentleman volunteer in the engine room on the ferry who had a crack sense of humor and showed us some of the machinery in motion. He was the only staff/volunteer we encountered, but worth it. My personal favorite was the ā€˜star of Indiaā€™ having sailed through the oceans since the 1800s and survived many close calls. I always would like to know more about the individual ships and there was some info but like many museums the exhibits seem to approach other ships and historical facts apart from the ship we are looking at.

Excellent collection of ships including replica and restored vessels. In addition to seeing great ships, this is a huge learning experience. We saw the Star of India, the USS Dolphin sub, Medea yacht, and the Berkely ferry. All were excellent. Itā€™s said this is the third best maritime museum in the World. Not sure what numbers 1 and 2 are.

Awesome old ships. Canā€™t believe people lived on them months at a time. They are pretty spacious though.
