What To Expect

Island Queen Ferry

Once in Falmouth, you'll be dropped off at the Island Queen Dock where you'll board the passenger ferry. Your ferry ticket is included so you won't have to wait in line at the dock. Relax on a short 35-minute mini-cruise as you sail across the sparkling waters off the coast of Massachusetts.

Oak Bluffs Town Beach

You will arrive at the island of Martha's Vineyard around 9:30am. You will then have approximately six hours to explore Martha's Vineyard on your own. Your bus driver will be happy to provide you with more information and maps of the area should you wish to book additional activities.

Gay Head Light (Aquinnah Light)

Upgrade to a 3-hour narrated island tour to get an initial overview of the island. On the tour you will have a 15-20-minute stop at the Gay Head cliffs in scenic Aquinnah, where the first lighthouse was built.

Next, you'll pass through the beautiful historic village of Edgartown. Along the way, enjoy the commentary from your professional tour guides as they share their knowledge of the island's history and present-day events. You will then have approximately 2.5 hours to explore Martha’s Vineyard on your own.

Upon completion of your day on the Island, you will board the ferry which departs at 3:45pm for a relaxing sail back to Falmouth, where the shuttle will be waiting to complete the final leg of your unforgettable day trip experience. A light snack and water will be provided on your trip back to Boston.

The Steamship Authority

Please note: For departures from April 2-May 26 and October 11-October 30, ferry service will be provided by The Steamship Authority. For departure from May 27-October 10, ferry service will be provided by Island Queen Ferry. Ferry schedules and locations may vary slightly. Times will be advised during reconfirmation.

The trip in the bus to the ferry back and forth was good. I only wish I had spent the time on Martha’s Vineyard on my own. Maybe rented a bike etc. I regret the tour on the island. The tour guide was very knowledgeable and gave us allot of good information about the island. But the bus was old and we didn’t even go to one of the larger towns I wanted to see. It seemed instead we saw allot of countryside with no towns. We only had 50 minutes left o look around in the main town. So my suggestion is a nicer bus and maybe cut a few things out in order to see the 2 main tourist towns.

Know in advance that you DO NOT get picked up at your hotel. The ride over to the ferry was fine and the ease of getting on the ferry was nice so I would recommend the tour just it would have been nice to know that it was false advertising saying they pick you up from your hotel. Lots of other guests were not happy about that either.

Unfortunately, we can't pick up at every hotel in Boston as there is over 100 of them. It clearly states on the Viator website that there are pickups from select Boston Hotels. Perhaps you should have done a bit more research before making accusations of false advertising. To future guests, YOU WILL GET PICKED UP FROM YOUR HOTEL if you are at one of the 25 or so that we do pick up at. Sincerely, Stephen M. Belcastro President New England Trips Inc.
