What To Expect

Island Queen Ferry

Once in Falmouth, you'll be dropped off at the Island Queen Dock where you'll board the passenger ferry. Your ferry ticket is included so you won't have to wait in line at the dock. Relax on a short 35-minute mini-cruise as you sail across the sparkling waters off the coast of Massachusetts.

Oak Bluffs Town Beach

You will arrive at the island of Martha's Vineyard around 9:30am. You will then have approximately six hours to explore Martha's Vineyard on your own. Your bus driver will be happy to provide you with more information and maps of the area should you wish to book additional activities.

Gay Head Light (Aquinnah Light)

Upgrade to a 3-hour narrated island tour to get an initial overview of the island. On the tour you will have a 15-20-minute stop at the Gay Head cliffs in scenic Aquinnah, where the first lighthouse was built.

Next, you'll pass through the beautiful historic village of Edgartown. Along the way, enjoy the commentary from your professional tour guides as they share their knowledge of the island's history and present-day events. You will then have approximately 2.5 hours to explore Martha’s Vineyard on your own.

Upon completion of your day on the Island, you will board the ferry which departs at 3:45pm for a relaxing sail back to Falmouth, where the shuttle will be waiting to complete the final leg of your unforgettable day trip experience. A light snack and water will be provided on your trip back to Boston.

The Steamship Authority

Please note: For departures from April 2-May 26 and October 11-October 30, ferry service will be provided by The Steamship Authority. For departure from May 27-October 10, ferry service will be provided by Island Queen Ferry. Ferry schedules and locations may vary slightly. Times will be advised during reconfirmation.

Make sure you get the Optional Island Tour. Mr Scott was born and raised on the island. He knows everything about the landmarks and history of the island. Another tour guide maybe good at repeating facts that they found in a book, but Mr Scott has lived that history. His map (mounted inside the bus) and the use of his pointer help you visualize exactly where you are on the island. There are only 44 seats on the bus so make sure you buy this tour ASAP, We had 43 people on our bus and that was the 3rd week of September. There are several stops along the way. That means that the 3 hour tour (OK Gilligan) goes by very quickly. After the Island tour you will still have time to have a meal and shop before returning to the ferry. There are 2 docks for the ferry's. Of course we went to the one that ferrys cars. That's the wrong dock. If your facing that ferry, the ferry you want is to the left. (you cannot see it from the car ferry, but trust me-it's to the left)

Great bus tour. A must to see the entire island. Had plenty of time after for lunch and walking around. Tom was our tour guide and he was great. Many restaurants to choose from. Showed us where some scenes from Jaws was filmed and many other history facts from Clinton to the crash site of JFK jr.

Our driver to the ferry was prompt and very informative. The ferry ride was beautiful. We took the 3 hour tour of the island with Tom the bus driver. He's always lived on the island, so he was full of knowledge. We had lobster tacos for lunch and did some shopping. We had perfect weather. The tour was well worth the money we paid.
