What To Expect

Island Queen Ferry

Once in Falmouth, you'll be dropped off at the Island Queen Dock where you'll board the passenger ferry. Your ferry ticket is included so you won't have to wait in line at the dock. Relax on a short 35-minute mini-cruise as you sail across the sparkling waters off the coast of Massachusetts.

Oak Bluffs Town Beach

You will arrive at the island of Martha's Vineyard around 9:30am. You will then have approximately six hours to explore Martha's Vineyard on your own. Your bus driver will be happy to provide you with more information and maps of the area should you wish to book additional activities.

Gay Head Light (Aquinnah Light)

Upgrade to a 3-hour narrated island tour to get an initial overview of the island. On the tour you will have a 15-20-minute stop at the Gay Head cliffs in scenic Aquinnah, where the first lighthouse was built.

Next, you'll pass through the beautiful historic village of Edgartown. Along the way, enjoy the commentary from your professional tour guides as they share their knowledge of the island's history and present-day events. You will then have approximately 2.5 hours to explore Martha’s Vineyard on your own.

Upon completion of your day on the Island, you will board the ferry which departs at 3:45pm for a relaxing sail back to Falmouth, where the shuttle will be waiting to complete the final leg of your unforgettable day trip experience. A light snack and water will be provided on your trip back to Boston.

The Steamship Authority

Please note: For departures from April 2-May 26 and October 11-October 30, ferry service will be provided by The Steamship Authority. For departure from May 27-October 10, ferry service will be provided by Island Queen Ferry. Ferry schedules and locations may vary slightly. Times will be advised during reconfirmation.

Such a beautiful island. I rented a bike for the day $30 and had the best time of my life. I even jumped into the priests water for a quick refreshment after riding. 💯 recommend taking the trip

During our stay in Boston, we planned a day trip to Martha’s Vineyard. It has always been on our bucket list of places to visit. We booked through Viator, a company called New England Trips. Included in the trip was: hotel pick-up and drop-off, round trip ferry and a 3-Hour narrated island tour bus. The entire day went smoothly from start to finish. We received a confirmation call the day before the trip. Prior to the trip, we didn’t have to worry about printing tickets. All of our tickets were presented to us when we got onto the bus. Our driver, Jennifer was very nice and had a good sense of humor when talking to passengers. We received complimentary water and snacks during the drive both ways. From there we took the Island Queen Ferry to Martha’s Vineyard. When we arrived, Tom our tour guide was waiting for us. Who also is a local to Martha’s Vineyard. He was exceptionally knowledgeable and friendly during the entire tour. We got to learn a lot of history and fun facts about each neighborhood. If you get the chance to visit Martha’s Vineyard, I would 100% recommend Tom to be your tour guide. We stopped in Edgartown, Aquinnah, and Oaks Bluff. Drove through Chilmark and Tisbury. At each stop we were given plenty of time to sightsee before moving on to the next location. The final stop was at Oaks Bluff and we had 2 and 1/2 hours to ourselves to explore. Leaving the island was a breeze. Got picked up by the same ferry and headed back onto our mini van to take us back to Boston. As a first time visitor to the island, I am glad we made the decision to book through this company. It exceeded my expectations. We didn’t have to worry about any travel details, we just had to show up and enjoy the views.

Very knowledgeable driver, but was expecting a smaller bus type, with more vision to the outside instead of a school bus.
