What To Expect

Island Queen Ferry

Once in Falmouth, you'll be dropped off at the Island Queen Dock where you'll board the passenger ferry. Your ferry ticket is included so you won't have to wait in line at the dock. Relax on a short 35-minute mini-cruise as you sail across the sparkling waters off the coast of Massachusetts.

Oak Bluffs Town Beach

You will arrive at the island of Martha's Vineyard around 9:30am. You will then have approximately six hours to explore Martha's Vineyard on your own. Your bus driver will be happy to provide you with more information and maps of the area should you wish to book additional activities.

Gay Head Light (Aquinnah Light)

Upgrade to a 3-hour narrated island tour to get an initial overview of the island. On the tour you will have a 15-20-minute stop at the Gay Head cliffs in scenic Aquinnah, where the first lighthouse was built.

Next, you'll pass through the beautiful historic village of Edgartown. Along the way, enjoy the commentary from your professional tour guides as they share their knowledge of the island's history and present-day events. You will then have approximately 2.5 hours to explore Martha’s Vineyard on your own.

Martha's Vineyard Camp meeting Association (MVCMA)

Upon completion of your day on the Island, you will board the ferry which departs at 3:45pm for a relaxing sail back to Falmouth, where the shuttle will be waiting to complete the final leg of your unforgettable day trip experience. A light snack and water will be provided on your trip back to Boston.

The Steamship Authority

Please note: For departures from April 2-May 26 and October 11-October 30, ferry service will be provided by The Steamship Authority. For departure from May 27-October 10, ferry service will be provided by Island Queen Ferry. Ferry schedules and locations may vary slightly. Times will be advised during reconfirmation.

Dear Steve, I talked to you yesterday about our problem on the trip to Martha's Vineyard island. The local private tour bus driver dropped us at Aquinnah top for half an hour and we got carried away so much by the beauty of it that missed the bus, came 7 minutes later, and it was only 12:10. The rest of the day we spent trying to get to the island Queen ferry on time and after all got there an hour earlier. We missed other beautiful places of the island and my professional journalistic passion is not satisfied. I want to ask you for a favor to offer one more trip to Martha's Vineyard for me and my friend for September 14. A complimentary trip please. We left our 2 Blue jackets on the bus and our bus neibours later told us that the driver promised to bring them to the office. Where is the office and how can I take them? I will appreciate if you get back to me with my request and I thank you very much in advance. Galina Vlasenko.

Yes, we did speak. Unfortunately, you missing the bus was certainly not our fault. Our driver waited a considerable amount of time for your return. How long do you think that we should make the other 40 guests in the bus wait for you to satisfy professional journalistic passion? What is fair to them as their free time is taken up waiting in the bus? This is a shared group tour with other New England Trips guests and not a private tour for just yourself. We did retrieve your jackets and will make arrangements for you to pick up. You certainly could take our trip again if you choose, but not complimentary. Sincerely, Stephen M. The ferry ride was quite nice, even with bad weather. The island was beautiful and well maintained. The public transportation on the island was friendly, helpful, clean, and very affordable.
