Amazing tour with an amazing guide! Gary took great care of us, not only did he know so many interesting facts he also had plenty of stories to share. Forget something? No worries! “Aunt” Gary’s got your back. He had water, snacks, sunglasses, gloves, and extra jackets prepared for all of us. Only on this tour can you drink glacier water right from the source and get glacial facials leaving your face looking better than ever! Our trip would not have been as great as it was without this tour. Special thanks to Alex for helping us arrange all these fun activities!

Our driver was a lovely and friendly person, so this doesn’t apply to him. We had a terrible experience with the management. 3 things were not as advertised— 1. It says a max of 14 people. We had less than that in our car to get there (only 4), but our glacier hike group was over that. Obviously there were lots of people on the glacier as a whole, which is no biggie, but our tour group on the glacier itself was over 14. This lead to large crowds all trying to take pictures and distracting from the nature before us. They rely on a third party to do the glacier walk, and don’t have control of how many people that third party books— would have just been nice to know/expect. 2. No provided snacks despite that being stated. We didn’t expect lunch or anything because that was clearly excluded. 3. We were given the wrong start time leading us to sit in cold and drizzling rain waiting for the tour to begin. We had confirmation in various emails from TripAdvisor and Viator, including the ticket itself from Viator, with the time; leadership did not inform us of any new start times despite claims. This was not that big of a deal, but when I called out to leadership they acted as if the new summer hours were obvious (they weren’t as both TripAdvisor and Viator were not aware). Overall we were just frustrated at how management spoke to us when these issues were brought to light. I’m sure they’ll be pleasant if they reply to this comment, but we just got a bad feeling about the management.

Absolutely NO false advertisement was presented please read on and look at the rest of our reviews and this customers behavior even after TripAdvisor and management refused five times an unwarranted $310 partial refund. Please review our numerous five star reviews then read on: The customer asked for a 50 percent refund on the tour because she wanted the Matanuska Glacier Hike for which we do not own to have only 14 people. They do take groups of 14 up (per guide) and there will be other groups based on the numbers booked for that time slot. Often two groups will be back to back to accommodate this highly sought after tour. We repeatedly informed her that we do not own the Matanuska Glacier and have no control over that monument and we can’t ask that the owner of the hike give us preferential treatment. She loved the tour with the driver and the amount of people on the day she went were only four making the tour almost a private tour for her 8.5 hours that we accompanied her. She again was told that there is no warrant to issue her a $310.00 refund because of too many people at a State owned Glacier. She was not happy because we again said her complaint was not valid and is frivolous because we can’t control venues we bring her to such as the Wildlife Center, Portage Cruise and certainly not the Matanuska Glacier which is our most sought after tour. The driver said she and her partner as well as others tipped and were extremely happy. He said he gave out water but nobody asked for the snacks which he had on hand. Perhaps because the ride to our first stop was only 40 minutes and by that time everyone had purchased their lunch a granola bar was not wanted. We were on a changeover to summer hours because of the increase in daylight hours that tour was moved to 9:30 am. When I looked online through their travel agency portal it definitely showed that they were sent emails regarding the change. Because they booked with a travel agency the agency ensures proper communication is given regarding changes. Our confirmation also gives notation that reconfirming is a good idea as changes can occur when traveling. The visitors center and coffee shops were open so they were able to get out of the elements while waiting for their driver to arrive. I have no clue why she would want a $310.00 refund and informed her that her complaint did not warrant a refund. She was denied and then because she didn’t get the $310.00 that she demanded not once but five times through her travel agency then through our offices. Because of this she threatened us via phone and email to give us a one star rating even though she readily admitted that the tour guide was a five star guide and the tour was wonderful. We were not notified of any issues until the travel agency contacted us. We recommend to all our valued clients to please voice their concerns with the driver and then if not resolved reach out to management. Any request for refunds to third party sellers are always denied essentially when we are not given the opportunity to correct or explain issues that probably might not be an issue if properly discussed.

This was a really great tour experience. We booked during low season, and Anchorage had just received a massive snowfall; so what was supposed to be a small group tour turned out to be a private one! We met our wonderful guide Dan at the intended meeting point, and he spirited us away in a very roomy, comfortable shuttle van. En route, he briefed us on what to expect at the glacier, and provided us with all kinds of interesting info about the area. The hike was also really great - - it was a cold day, so we made good use of our parkas, snow pants, winter boots, hats and mittens -- you definitely will need them on the hike around the glacier if you're visiting in the winter. Our guides at the glacier were also excellent; very friendly, informative and courteous -- and importantly, safety conscious. One thing to note: you'll have a driver/guide, and a glacier guide -- so prepare yourself to tip accordingly. We didn't realize this was the case, and had to Venmo Dan a tip at the end of the day (which was well-earned!). All in all, would definitely recommend this hike to anyone visiting Anchorage!
