Greatland Adventures
The Matanuska Glacier is one of Alaska's premiere destinations. Ā At 27 miles long and 4 miles wide it is Alaska's largest glacier accessible by road. Ā It also is boasts one of the most accessible areas to walk on of any glacier in Alaska. Ā Marvel at ice that formed thousands of years ago high in the Chugach Mountains.

Matanuska Glacier
Your day will start with a magnificent scenic drive along the Glenn Highway with stunning mountain vistas and plenty of time for photo stops. Ā Next we will drive to the toe of the glacier to dawn our ice cleats and begin exploring the glacier by foot. Each day is unique due to the dynamic nature of the glacier. We generally spend two hours and walk three miles on the ice.Ā  After exploring the glacier we will have lunch at a local eatery with stunning views of the glacier and surrounding scenery.Ā Each tour will be customized to suit your groups interest. This is a once in a lifetime bucket list opportunity to explore glacial ice!

Breathtaking! It was our first time to Alaska and the views took my breath away. No matter which way you turned, there was something magnificent to see. Bill and Matt were our guides and were so knowledgeable and fun! We drank glacier water that tasted delicious. Lunch was at Long Rifle Lodge where the food and employees were delightful. We are seriously thinking of coming back in the summer to do this tour again with a different experience (but with Bill and Matt).

Starting with the tour guide, he was wonderful. I was traveling with wife and 2 kids and he was always smiling, patient, adaptive and helpful. 5 stars. Second, talking bout the tour itself, I must say it is simply the best. I have traveled a lot, and been in different places (China Wall, Niagara, Florence, Rome, Kyoto, Volcanoes, etc) and I MUST say that this is the best natural experience of my life. No other National Park beats this one. Feels like you are in a different planet, full of natural beauty. If I would do just ONE thing in Anchorage, this would be the one. Don't miss it. You HAVE to go with a tour, the park administration doesn't let you go by yourself for safety reasons, so don't try to save money.
