We did the Sunrise Downhill Bike ride tour. This was a 5 star review until the end of the tour. The beginning of the trip was annoying. You are told to be at the very dark, unmarked building at 1:30am. We found it because our tour bus happened to be right in front of us when we were pulling in. Otherwise I am not sure we would have seen it. Then when we went inside, the very annoyed lady at the desk informed me that the release forms I spent 45 minutes filling out online for all of our party did not come through on her end, so we had to fill out new forms. I showed her the receipt on my phone that had all of the release forms, but she said that doesn't matter, they need to be hard copies...ok, fine, we filled out new ones...again. Once on the bus, our guides were great. The driver was excellent and never made us feel unsafe. The bike guides made sure everyone had what they needed and that everyone was safe on the bikes. The new laws that we cannot ride all the way down the mountain were disappointing, but that was not their fault. The trip overall was fantastic until the end of the trip when, instead of taking the lead and guiding us back to the building after breakfast, our guide just pointed us where we were supposed to go and told us when we see a church and a school, its right after that. Well, it turns out that there are MULTIPLE schools and churches on the way back to the building. Also, I think the guides forget that people who go on this trip have never been here before and the only exposure we have to the main building was in the middle of the night with no lighting. It looks completely different in the day, and there is NO markings that indicated the company or anything. It's just a tan building. I was in the back of our family group. My husband and two boys blew right past the building. My niece somehow saw it and turned in and I, thinking she had a problem and needed to stop, stopped with her, only to realize this is where we were supposed to be. She said she only recognized it because she saw our car. Meanwhile, the rest of my family was WELL past us going God knows where. I walked out to the edge of the street and waved the rest of the groups into the building. They thanked me and mentioned they would never have seen the building otherwise. Eventually, our guide and the van pulled in. I informed him that my husband and kids went passed the building and I have no idea where they are. It had been about 10-15 min. Instead of sending the van to find them, or even going on bike, he just said, "Well, they'll be back eventually". I'm sure this happens every day, but this really wasn't an acceptable answer. I walked down the street about 1/4 mile and saw them walking their bikes back up (it's all uphill back to the building if you pass it). I guided them all back in and made sure everyone was safe. I feel like if I was a tour guide I would have made sure my entire group was back safe where they were supposed to be and not blow them off. Overall it was a great trip, but those last moments just left a bad taste in my mouth. Also, it is FREEZING (literally) at the top of the mountain, so dress in lots of layers. Other companies provide parkas. I am not sure why this one doesn't. It doesn't seem like it would be much effort to throw a couple of extra jackets and pants in the trunk of the van in case people need them.
