This was without a doubt, the best luau we have attended! Excellent food, beautiful Hawaiian atmosphere, exquisite grounds, real flower lei’s and a sunset to knock your socks off!
We enjoy attending a luau whenever we visit the islands, so we have been to more than a few. This was one of the most affordable, by today’s prices, for what you get. The food selections were varied and plentiful and absolutely delicious! Everyone at our table was amazed. Usually most people come for the entertainment and put up with so-so food. This luau had the best of both. Make sure you have the delicious poke, kalua pork, Hawaiian sweet potatoes and Dragon Fruit Cheesecake, but honestly everything is good. The alcoholic drinks, however, were only just ok. They were strong, but did not taste as expected. We have found this true of other Luaus as well. And depending on what time of the year you go, it may be hot when you first get here. September was unusually warm, but it became more comfortable by sunset. These were the only negatives.
As good as the food was, equally good was the entertainment. They played Hawaiian music the entire time starting on arrival, and through dinner. They had a wonderful Hawaiian lady as a “master of ceremonies,” who led the entertainment and gave wonderful insights into Hawaiian culture. The dancers and music were absolutely beautiful. The entire show was authentic Hawaiian, except for the Fire Dance at the end. They include this dance since it is so amazing to watch, but they explained that this dance is Polynesian, but not Hawaiian.
Other tips: Book as early as you can (couple months), as your seating is based on first booked, closer tables to the stage. We were seated in the front row and had an unobstructed view of the show, and were among the first tables called up to the buffet. Make sure you take some beautiful Hawaiian sunset pictures and catch the divers at Black Rock, easily seen from here. There are very nice craft tables set up selling authentic made in Hawaiian handmade items. We picked up some beautiful Christmas angel ornaments, and they sell gorgeous Tiki wood carvings and jewelry.
This luau was very welcoming and enjoyable, leaving you with a true sense of Aloha. Put this one on your bucket list!
