Our Pineapple Tour was extremely interesting, we learned some history and first time tasted the ripe pineapple from the bush :) Moe was very knowledgeable and funny guide ... We love it!!!

I was originally a little wary of doing this tour. After all, how exciting could a pineapple tour be? It turns out, it was the perfect way to end our trip to maui. Sure it wasn't as "exciting" or breathtaking as some other things but it was a nice change of pace. Ken was a great tour guide. Our two boys (8 and 10) really got a lot out of the tour as well. If you combine it with a tasting at the distillery and a visit to glass blowers next door it's a great way to spend a few hours.

The afternoon tour would coordinate well with a dawn visit and hike at Haleakala or a bike run down Haleakala. The morning tour starts kind of late and it's not worth wasting an entire morning over. It is informative, and you get a nice view of west Maui from the fields. The pineapples they give you at the end of the tour are small-ish, and for the money charged, they could have been more generous. I do recommend making a reservation at the restaurant across the street (Hali'imaile General Store) for a good lunch or dinner while you are Upcountry. Our tour guide, Moe, was the right mixture of perfunctory and deferent for a jaded traveler to enjoy, and generous with the pineapple tasting.
