Memphis Discovery Tour

Overview
Get the complete Memphis experience on this all-inclusive city tour. It’s a part history tour, part attraction hopping, part food tour that will introduce you to everything that makes Memphis special. You’ll visit World Famous Beale Street (the Home of the Blues); the Lorraine Motel, to see the balcony where Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. was assassinated; the Rock 'n' Soul Museum or Edge Motor Museum (if option selected); Lansky Brothers Clothing Store, clothier to Elvis Presley, Johnny Cash, and B.B. King (and still one of the most stylish places to shop!); and get a barbecue tasting at one of the best barbecue joints in the city!

Along the way, we'll show you our favorite Memphis sights, including the Mississippi River, Victorian Village, St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, old Cotton Row, and Court Square, the lovely and historic heart of 19th century Memphis.

Larry was our driver and Backbeat Tours was nothing but professional! We met at Alfred's - at the end of Beale St. We left on time and Larry would stop, get out with us, pause for explanations, and answer any questions we had. The stop at Central BBQ for BBQ tasting was delicious. I made my husband take me back there for dinner a few days later. We stopped and saw the ducks, which was just hype by the Peabody. We ended at the Rock and Soul Museum, where we went on our own self guided tour. The bus was new, great sound system and air conditioned. There aren't bathrooms on the bus, but there are bathrooms at many places you stop along the way. The actual driving around was only 1 1/2 hours. The balance of time is at the museum. Thanks Backbeat for a great tour.

This tour, provided by Backbeat Tour, was fun and interesting while riding in a clean and air conditioned bus. The meeting point is at Alfred’s Restaurant and Bar, on Beale St; the Tour Guide has a small podium set up there, very organized! Our Driver was Ms Princess and our Tour Guide was Andy whom provided great facts regarding the different stops on the route. He was extremely pleasant and even recommended where we should park down the road next to a church. One tip for The Peabody Duck March: situate yourself either on the Mezzanine, or the first floor, along the longer sides of the area to ensure a better view. The Tour ticket includes “a tasting” from the famous Central BBQ restaurant, but really it’s a lunch. The food was fresh and flavorful. I highly recommend this tour!
