Mendenhall Glacier Lake Canoe Tour

Overview
Experience the beauty of the Alaskan wilderness on this 3.5-4 hour adventure to the Mendenhall Glacier. This adventure starts off at the cruise ship docks as an expert guide will transfer the guaranteed, small group on a narrated 30 minute journey to the West Glacier boat launch in the Tongass National Forest. Guests gear up in top quality waterproof gear and after a quick paddle lesson, will launch the canoe onto the Mendenhall Lake to start the journey. Surrounded by steep cliffs filled with Arctic terns, mountain goats, porcupines, and other wildlife; enjoy the serenity of this adventure deep into Alaska. Feel the cool brisk air coming off the glacier as the guide safely navigates the canoe to the best viewpoints of the blue crevasses and seracs on the toe of the Mendenhall Glacier. Be one of the few to step away from the crowds and get face to face with glacier. This Tour is canoeing only and DOES NOT INCLUDE a hike.

This was a good trip taking us right up to the glacier. Likely to be last year where it meets the water and then it will become a hanging glacier. The canoe experience was good fun although tiring as lots of rowing as a team. All Outerwear provided. Our guides were lovely.

So glad I booked directly with Liquid Alaska Tours. Devin and team were waiting for us at the specified time in the specified spot after we arrived in Juneau. The ride was easy and informative to the lake. I liked that it was a smaller group. I felt very safe and educated touring the lake with Devin. We paddled there and back and it was a gorgeous day. Well worth the time and money. Also glad I'm in good shape as we kept an even pace paddling. Alaska Tours thought of everything: the outfits (tops and bottoms to keep you dry), water safety vests, boots for all, dry sack for snacks (they provided the snacks) and your wallet, and even gloves that kept me warm and dry. Then when we came back we had hot cocoa waiting for us. I was impressed. It was a great way to see the infamous Medenhall Glacier up close, and we were thoroughly entertained by Devin.
