Mexican Street food, Tijuana Day trip from San Diego

Overview
Street food in Tijuana means, fat, salsa a quick service but mainly a bunch of flavor. Imagine being a student and in your way from the school to your work you don’t have time but a food truck can save you a give you the meal you need to keep going. That kind of experience is in our tour, walk and eat. In the Mexican street food you can find snacks like fresh fruit with lime and pepper who will refresh you in a hot summer day, boiled corn with a little of butter, lime and also salsa you can keep chatting with your friends and exploring the streets. The taco it’s the king of the streets, and there's many presentations  from the simple beans taco to the taco al pastor (asada pork with spices),  put a lot of wacamole and lime and the right salsa to take it to another level. At the end we should look for a good tap room to try craft beer. If you are more like to taste something sweet maybe a margarita in a authentic mexican cantina will be the option. During the tour and tasting the street food you will build your own opinion about mexico, come with us to cross the border.

A good sampling of Mexican styles in Tijuana including roadside birria, quesadillas with blue corn tortillas with CDMX influence, fresh churros at the cathedral, and pork adobada. My tour guide, Humberto, made use of his personal compact car to bring the day's group of 3 people total to La Mesa, Tijuana beach promenade, and Avenida Revolución in Tijuana downtown. He mentioned some other groups from the same tour company might take the bus from the border crossing to Tijuana downtown. The tour included a beer flight at the top of a parking garage with views of the city and a tequila tasting at a bottle shop. The tour did not include much information about each dish and its preparation, something a foodie audience might seek out. The tour starts on the Tijuana side of the border, after you've walked across the border from San Ysidro. You should also be prepared to wait at least an hour to cross back to the U.S. after your tour.

Our guide Tadeo was fantastic! On top of that we were paired with a great couple that made the day even better! Tadeo was full of knowledge about the history of the city, took us to some wonderful eateries that included tacos, quesadillas and to our surprise a place where the Ceasar Salad was discovered (not what you expect) and well worth it. In addition we did a tequila tasting and a margarita/beer stop too. If you want a good day in Tijuana this is a perfect way to spend the day, see the city and do some shopping too. We also found out, each guide puts their own twist to the day and each tour/day is different based on what the guide decides. As in other reviews, the directions on where to meet up are not clear. Here is our experience. There was no Baja Mex Trolley as stated in Trip Advisor. I contacted the company via the number on Trip Advisor, left a message and Humberto contacted me back. We had to walk across to Mexico on our own and walk the pathway down to Tijuana. Once you exit the pathway, Humberto was there waiting to give us further directions. Parking... We found out the closer to the border you are, the more expensive it it... Like $40-$60 for 10 hours. If you don't mind walking 10-15 min, we found Border Station Parking near the outlets. Its literally on the right as you exit the last US exit. $18 for 10 hours. From there, you walk up the hill and follow the pedestrian bridge to the Border crossing. All in all a great day and if we plan another trip to Tijuana we will definitely use this company again.
