The best walking tours are very much determined by the passion and knowledge that the guide has for the subject matter they are introducing to their audience. In the case of our recent tour with Secret Food Tours in Miami, our guide Erin was both passionate and very knowledgeable. She packed so much knowledge, insight, gossip and experience into the 3 hours that we left feeling like we had lived there for quite some time. The food was a key part of the journey and whilst not overwhelming in quantity it was definitely great and a very good selection for the overall experience. I would recommend the tour to anyone and everyone, especially those that want to go a little off the beaten path and see a part of Miami that is steeped in history and very different from what most would expect. Our group was an eclectic mix to say the least… including two Miami locals.

Erin met us sporting a bright yellow umbrella. Her smile and personality shone even brighter! Erin gave us an in-depth history of the area and many charring stories as we walked through Coconut Grove. As you walk from one food venue to the next, Erin shared the unique history and colorful stories about the area, its founders, past and current residents. The food at every stop was amazing! We started off with a taste of Cuba with an amazing Cuban sandwich, followed by some Peruvian Ceviche, tacos, conch fritters and topped off with Key Lime Pie. Erin has a wealth of knowledge, don't be afraid to ask her questions. We have done a few food tours now and this was by far the best so far. Highly recommend this tour to anyone who wants to learn more about the history of Miami and a bite of the food scene.
