Overview

This is by far the best Family Float trip on the Arkansas River! This convenient trip offers the best whitewater for little kids with spectacular Rocky Mountain scenery. Our 1/4 day is a 5 mile trip with easy Class II-III rapids. This is the perfect introductory trip for families with little kids or timid beginners. You will float from Coaldale to our riverside base in Cotopaxi while enjoying scenic views of the Sangre de Cristo Range. This itinerary is the best trip for rafting in Colorado on the Arkansas River for families with young kids. We are the only outfitter offering this trip since we conveniently finish this trip right at our riverside base!

Once you arrive at the river put in you will be given specific instructions by your guide and then hit the river for a fun mellow adventure on the river. Scenic views and fun mellow whitewater!

Great outfitter! Ethan and Austin were fabulous with our two rafts. We had six children (ages: 5,7,7,7,8,9), two adults over 60, and 4 others split into two rafts. Best of all - paddling was optional.

If you are bringing young children, beware of a tour-guide by the name of Austin. He was annoyed at my 11 years old child, and rather than notifying us (his parents) of whatever issues he had with our child so WE were the ones to take any corrective actions if any were needed, he decided to instead take revenge - as he word per word described it to us - and dragged my 11 years old child to the middle of the river while making it seem like it was all in fun, and then once in the middle of the river, Austin's demeanor changed and forcefully dunked my child's head underwater and then proceeded to boast that he had done it for revenge and that he had done similar pay-backs before to other children. This part completely ruined the whole experience to unimaginable levels and it weighs heavily on me as a parent that I chose this company as our first rafting experience to begin with. Don't let this happen to your children.

From our conversations on the phone last year I thought we had worked through this situation and am sad to see the negative review to show up now. I had meet with Austin and his intention was to create a fun trip with a playful splashing experience and not to get any sort of “revenge”. As you know from our conversation, I took your concerns very seriously and worked with Austin to insure this never happens again. We also have taken this a learning experience and have updated our employee handbook and included additional training for our guide staff to specify appropriate play standards with guests in swimming areas. We had so much fun on this adventure. I highly recommend this place and specifically Austin. He was our guide and such an expert on the rapids! He kept us all very safe and was amazing with our kids! He never became flustered when the boys were asking so many questions. Great time!!!
