We rented a kayak as the last time my daughter and I had floated the river on a group raft it was boring (not with Mild to Wild) and we figured the kayak would make it more fun but we kind of felt like red headed step children with this trip. Everyone on the boats had fun and the guides seem to crack jokes and such with them, telling them stories about the area and stuff. Since we weren't always right next to the raft we missed most of it. We might try the group raft next year and see if it's more fun with Mild to Wild. Overall the trip was successful, we made it up the river on bus and back by kayak but was a little disappointed at how alone we kind of felt. It might not be so lonely if you have several friends to rent kayaks with which was why I still gave it 4 stars. The trip was fun, overall. It was just my 11 year old daughter and I so by the time we were down river we were done.

Thank you for the feedback. The kayaks are more indivudual, but we understand how this could be a little lonely. We would love to have you back for a rafting trip for more interaction with the guides. Thanks for taking the time to share.

After reading some reviews about the Class 1 & 2 rapids, we decided the rafting might be a bit too "relaxing" for our crew. We reserved kayaks instead, and it was PERFECT! We followed along with the rafts, and those 1 & 2 rapids were so much fun on the kayak. We had originally booked for Monday, but there were 30 mph winds and they contacted us to suggest we move to the raft instead of the kayaks. We really didn't want to do that, so we moved to Tuesday instead. The winds were much more calm, but we still had some periods of paddling directly into the wind and that was a challenge! There was one kid around 10 yrs old who opted out of his kayak a few miles into the trip. They tied his kayak to a raft and he climbed into the raft. They do a good job of making sure that everyone is having a good experience. There were several sections of river where the raft guides did not paddle at all; they just floated and told stories and let the guests swim for a bit. The only downside of the kayaks is that you don't get to hear the stories from the guide.

Thank you for the awesome review. We love the kayaks for more adventure! Maybe next year you want to try a higher adventure river with a guide so you can hear the stories too:) Thanks for choosing Mild to Wild!

The trip was a blast! Only complaint was getting in the water. Everyone was in a huge hurry and because of that my husband and I started feeling left behind. I'm a below knee amputee without a prosthetic and our guide left us in the dust when getting us in the kayak and getting us situated (we missed the brig safety talk, husband was left running around trying to find helmets, unclear directions for "take off" (2 guides telling us different things)). We quickly figured it out and got going. Other than that it was fun and enjoyable. Very easy to complete in a kayak if you choose! We were with a bunch of rafts so it was easy to ask anyone if we had questions or needed further assistance.
