The crew this morning were top notch! Our two kids (4 & 7) had a great time! Although the little guy was a bit too scared to swim in the open water, he still had a great time watching from top-side. Our crew made a game-time decision to head north to a different destination, and we got to swim with a pod of no fewer than 30 spinner dolphins... and the beautiful reef location was an added bonus — especially the white-tipped reef shark we got to see cruising the bottom! Thanks for a great time!

Do NOT book this tour! I just returned home (California) after vacationing on the Big Island and I am finally able to write a review about this tour. This tour was billed as "Dolphin Encounter and Kealakekua Bay Reef Snorkel" and it ended up being quite the OPPOSITE. After leaving the harbor, the first part of the tour was dedicated to finding dolphins. Upon seeing some on the surface at a distance, the guests then entered the water for their "encounter". Some people did see dolphins (way down beneath them) and some saw none, including me. After that disappointment the boat crew then pointed the boat north instead of south toward the Capt. Cook/Kealakekua Bay area. I asked one of the crew why we were going north instead of south and reminded him that this tour is billed as going to Kealakekua Bay. He replied that, "Kealakekua Bay is way overrated and there are too many other people there so we're going to a different area." To me, that's like being on a flight to San Francisco and during the flight the pilot comes on and says, "Ladies and gentlemen, I think San Francisco is overrated as a destination so we're going to Portland, Oregon instead." The crew then put the boat into one of their "preferred" snorkel areas which actually had fewer fish than the beach parks along Ali'i Drive in the Kona area. This tour ended up being one of the most disappointing experiences in my life. I repeat, DO NOT TAKE THIS TOUR!

This was a cool experience but I wouldn't personally go back out with this company. The boat wasn't nearly as clean as the others I had been on for other excursions and it was a tight fit with all the people, personal bags and snorkeling gear. Items should have been limited as there was no storage on the boat with items being left all over the seating and floors (hazardous to walk in the cabin, especially as the boat was rocking). The staff was friendly and made sure everyone was attended too. They took us to 3 spots, one for swimming with the dolphins and two others just to snorkel. I wish they would have stayed to swim with the dolphins longer as the snorkeling spots weren't as exciting. We were broken out into groups to go into the water with a staff member. Unfortunately our staff member kept our group close to the boat the entire time and was constantly receiving direction from the captain. As such, the other groups got to swim further out and see much more dolphin activity. The captain mentioned they had a trainee on board and I wonder if that's who we got. The other groups got to see more activity and be much closer to the dolphin groups for the limited time we were out there. As mentioned before, the staff was great, but my group didn't get the luck of the draw.
