Muir Woods and Sausalito Tour Entrance Fee Included

Overview
Join us for a narrated and scenic drive from San Francisco across the Golden Gate Bridge, explore the beauty of Giant Coastal Redwoods at Muir Woods, and appreciate the astonishing views from Sausalito's picturesque waterfront.
On the way to the Woods, we usually make a short stop on the Northern side of the Golden Gate Bridge.
We will spend one hour and twenty minutes in the Muir Woods and about one hour in Sausalito, where you can walk the Waterfront and enjoy the stunning views of the bay, bridges, and downtown SF. Visit local art galleries and souvenir stores, and have lunch in one of many seafood restaurants. Then we will take you back to your hotel. Should you decide to stay there longer, you can return to the city by Ferry.

Muir Woods National Monument
Enjoy the natural beauty of Coastal Sequoias! Muir Woods National Monument is a National Monument named after naturalist John Muir. It is located on Mount Tamalpais near the Pacific coast in SW Marin County and is part of the Golden Gate National Recreation Area, just 12 miles (19 km) north of SF. It protects 554 acres (224 ha) of which 240 acres (97 ha) are old growth coast redwood (Sequoia sempervirens) forests, the tallest living objects on Earth. Due to its proximity to the Pacific Ocean, the forest is regularly shrouded in a coastal marine layer fog. It remains cool and moist year-round with daytime temperatures averaging between 40 and 70 degrees Fahrenheit (4 to 21 °C). Millions of years ago ancestors of redwood and sequoia trees grew throughout North America. Today, the Sequoia sempervirens can be found only in a narrow, cool coastal belt from Monterey County, California, in the south to Oregon in the north.

Strategically located on Pacific Coast HW, it was home to Ferries, running to Hyde Str. Pier in SF. During WWII it was home to a major Marinship shipyard where the Liberty ships were built. In the late 1960s, the houseboat communities occupied the waterfront along and adjacent to Sausalito's shore. If you want to spend more time there, you can take the Ferry back to the city, it costs about $15 extra. Great Seafood Restaurants! Art Galleries!

This is one attraction that you should not pass up! Although the closer we got to Muir Woods, the scarier the road became (I'm not used to curvy roads) I would not have missed my visit to Muir Woods for anything. It was amazing and I was in awe of the beauty that I saw that day. Included in the trip was a visit with time for shopping or lunch in Salsilito. We opted to take the ferry back to the city instead of the tour van so we could explore more of Salsilito.
