If you’re reading reviews because you want to know if doing this excursion is worth it, I’m going to put it simply: it’s worth every single dollar and penny you spend. The facility has extra gear that you need if you’re out of state and need additional layers. Everyone is super friendly, had a lot of interesting things to say, are hardworking and eager to please; including the humans too! Even when you’re not dog sledding, it’s a blast. We learned so much interesting information about the Iditarod, logistics of the race and keeping the dogs nourished. It was so fascinating and our tour guide, Terrance, was phenomenal! We also got to play with adolescent puppies (~7 months) and they were hilarious and eager to play. We had a fun impromptu game of try-to-get-your-gloves-back from basically Olympic level dog athletes with four legs and kleptic behavior. Also, the 2-3 month old puppies are super cute and fun (the enclosure is smaller if you’re worried about dog glove theft). The whole experience was incredible, from driving the sled to sitting passenger, it was a once in a lifetime experience. I’d take any family or friends coming to visit Alaska again easily! You seriously cannot miss this!
