We absolutely LOVED the dog sledding with Liz and team. They are very professional, informative, kind, fun, and enjoyable. Our group included my husband, myself, my son, and both of my parents (in their 70s). My mom was a bit nervous about my dad "driving" the sled so Liz arranged for one of her team to personally drive my mom - which really made her day.
Before the sledding Liz took us for a tour to meet the dogs and the new puppies. OH MY GOODNESS - I could have stayed all day and just loved on each and every one of them, Some of the team had just finished the Iditarod - it was neat to meet the team that came in Second and Seventh in the race :) They all have such different but fun personalities.
Once we were ready for the sledding we met our team of dogs. The most memorable was the dogs in the "yard" howling as the sledding teams drove away - almost as a sendoff - it was really special and revealed how intuitive and smart they are.
The sledding was so much fun and we could not believe that only 4 dogs could pull my husband and me - even though we don't weigh much it still was amazing the strength of these dogs. The views as we wound through the woods were stunning - the sun glistening off the snow was breathtaking. It was also fun to watch the dogs run and look back at us either with curiosity or desire to go faster - HA!
We are so grateful for the opportunity to have gone dog sledding with such a wonderful group of people and dogs!
We HIGHLY recommed this activity to all who visit Alaska!
